Target Price Match Policy, Target Circle

Target price matches its own prices: a lower price on Target.com, in a Target store or through a Target Circle deal, at the time you buy or within 14 days after. As of October 2026, Target's price match policy does not cover competitors such as Amazon or Walmart. The bigger savings come from Target Circle: the free program, the Target Circle Card with 5% off, and Circle 360 for delivery. Every policy below was checked on Target's own site in October 2026. Quick answer: does Target price match?

Yes, but only against Target. Target matches a lower price on Target.com, a Target store's own price or a Target Circle deal, at purchase or within 14 days after, with your receipt. It does not match Amazon, Walmart or other competitors, and it excludes clearance, open-box, refurbished and pre-order items, among others.

The practical upshot: if you see a lower Target price within two weeks of buying, ask for the difference. If Amazon or Walmart is cheaper, buy there, because Target will not match it.

Price match policy: which prices, online vs in store, exclusions

Target's Price Match Guarantee covers three kinds of lower prices: Target.com prices, the in-store price at the store you are in, and Target Circle deals. Target.com prices match in-store purchases and in-store prices match Target.com purchases. Prices from other Target stores, comparison sites and competitors are not matched.

How to ask for a price match:

1. In store: show proof of the current lower price at Guest Services, such as Target.com or Target's digital ad on your phone.
2. Online: use chat on Target.com or the app, or call Guest Services at 1-800-591-3869.
3. Target Circle deals: sign in, sign up or enter your mobile number at checkout so the deal can be verified.
4. After you buy: bring your receipt or packing slip within 14 days.

Target lists these rules in its Price Match Guarantee (Target price match guarantee, checked October 2026). Manufacturer coupons can still apply after a price match on in-store purchases, and stock is not required for a match, though Target does not give rain checks.

Price adjustment within 14 days and holiday price match

Target's price adjustment is part of the same policy: if Target's price drops within 14 days of your purchase, you can ask for the difference with your receipt. Around the holidays, Target has run a longer Holiday Price Match Guarantee. In 2025, purchases made from November 1 could be adjusted if Target's price dropped on or before December 24.

Target's 2025 holiday terms come from its holiday savings fact sheet (Target 2025 holiday savings). Earlier years started sooner; in 2022 the window opened October 6. If Target announces a 2026 holiday guarantee, early gift shopping becomes much safer: buy when the price looks good, and ask for the difference if Target lowers it before Christmas Eve.

Target Circle vs Circle Card vs Circle 360

Target Circle has three levels. Target Circle is free and gives you Circle deals, Circle Bonuses and a birthday reward. The Target Circle Card adds 5% off at Target with no annual fee. Target Circle 360 is paid same-day delivery at $99 a year, or $49 with a Circle Card.

Target Circle Card. The 5% discount works with the debit card, the credit card and the Target Mastercard, and it stacks on top of Target Circle deals. It does not apply to prescriptions, gift cards, prepaid cards or Circle 360 and Shipt memberships. The debit version lets you take out up to $40 cash at checkout, and the credit versions need approval (Target Circle Card, checked October 2026).

Target Circle 360. Non-members pay $9.99 per same-day delivery order, so the membership pays for itself after about ten deliveries a year at the full $99 price, or five at the $49 cardholder price. Verified students and government assistance recipients can pay $4.99 a month, and there is a 14-day free trial (About Target Circle 360).

Target Circle Bonuses are personalized offers you activate on the Target Circle Deals page, often for spending a set amount. The reward is applied in full to your next purchase and expires after a year. Target ended the old 1% earnings on non-card purchases in April 2024.

Birthday reward. Add your birthday to your Target Circle account and you get 5% off one purchase, valid for 30 days and found in the Wallet tab of the app.

Target Circle Card: debit vs credit

The Target Circle Card comes as a debit card, a credit card and the Target Mastercard, and all three give the same 5% off at Target and Target.com with no annual fee. The difference is how you pay: the debit card draws from your checking account, and the credit versions need approval and charge interest on unpaid balances.

For most shoppers, the debit card is the safer choice: the same 5% with no interest and no credit check. The credit card only makes sense if you pay the balance in full every month, because interest on a carried balance wipes out the 5% quickly. If you split a payment between the Circle Card and another method, the 5% applies only to the part paid with the Circle Card.

Target Circle Week and Deal Days

Target Circle Week is now called Target Circle Deal Days, a few days of member deals that Target runs several times a year. The fall 2026 event ran October 6 and 7, with up to 40% off thousands of items, and Circle 360 members got early access on October 5. Spring and summer editions ran earlier in 2026.

The fall dates come from Target's September 2026 announcement (Target Circle Deal Days fall 2026). Deal Days deals are Circle deals, so they count for price adjustments within 14 days. If you bought something in the two weeks before Deal Days and it dropped during the event, you can ask for the difference.

Target Black Friday and price match

Target had not announced its Black Friday 2026 plans when we checked in mid October 2026. In 2025, it ran an Early Black Friday Sale from November 6 to 8 and started its main Black Friday deals on Sunday, November 23. Its 2025 Holiday Price Match Guarantee covered purchases from November 1 to December 24.

How to plan for Target's Black Friday:

1. Use the 14-day window. Buy early only if you can come back within 14 days, or within the holiday guarantee if Target announces one.
2. Pay with the Circle Card. The 5% stacks on Black Friday prices and on price-matched items.
3. Compare competitors yourself. Target will not match Amazon or Walmart, so check their prices before you buy.
4. Keep receipts in the app. Price adjustments need your receipt or packing slip.

Student, teacher and military discounts at Target

Target ties its group discounts to Target Circle. Verified college students and teachers got 20% off one purchase in summer 2026, students can get Circle 360 for $4.99 a month, and verified service members and veterans get Circle bonuses during campaigns, such as 20% off one purchase in June and July 2026.

How to stack savings at Target

The biggest Target savings come from stacking: a sale price, a Target Circle deal, a manufacturer coupon where allowed, and 5% off with the Circle Card at checkout. Price matching adds a safety net for 14 days. Target Circle Bonuses and Target coupons cannot be combined with a price match, so pick the better of the two.

1. Start with the sale or Circle deal price. Circle deals apply automatically once you identify as a member.
2. Add a manufacturer coupon on eligible in-store purchases.
3. Activate any Circle Bonus you will reach, such as a spend threshold.
4. Pay with the Target Circle Card for 5% off the total.
5. Watch the price for 14 days and ask for an adjustment if it drops.

Target return policy in short

Most Target purchases can be returned within 90 days, unopened and in new condition, for a refund or exchange. Electronics and entertainment items have 30 days, Target's own brands get up to a year with a receipt, and the Target Circle Card and Circle 360 each add 30 extra days on most items.

Opened, damaged or receipt-free returns may be refused, so keep receipts in the Target app. The extra 30 days on the Circle Card make early holiday shopping safer, because a gift bought in November can still come back in the new year for most items.

A Target savings plan that works every week

Put the pieces together and Target becomes one of the easier big stores to save at, because most of its savings are automatic once you set them up. Join the free program, pay with the Circle Card, check the Circle deals before each trip, and use the 14-day window when prices drop.

1. Join Target Circle and add your birthday. It is free, and the birthday reward is 5% off one purchase.
2. Get the Target Circle Card if you shop there often. The 5% applies on top of Circle deals and price-matched items, with no annual fee.
3. Check Circle deals before you go. They apply automatically once you identify as a member.
4. Activate Circle Bonuses you will reach. A bonus does not apply unless you activate it.
5. Ask for the difference within 14 days. If Target's own price drops, bring your receipt.
6. Decide on Circle 360 by counting deliveries. At $9.99 per same-day order without it, ten orders a year cover the $99 fee.
7. Shop Deal Days for big items. Fall 2026 Deal Days offered up to 40% off thousands of items.
