Birthday Freebies 2026: Food and Beauty

The birthday freebies worth the effort are a free Starbucks drink or food item, free IHOP pancakes, a free Chili's dessert, a free Sephora gift set in store and a free Bath & Body Works item, all through free rewards programs. The catch is timing: most need your birthday saved, and some need you to join days or weeks before your birthday month, or the reward simply never arrives. Panera's best birthday meal is not free to everyone either: it goes to MyPanera+ members, who have spent $300 at Panera in a calendar year. Below, every brand has its exact requirement and the date we last checked it on the brand's own page, plus a month-by-month planner so your rewards are ready on time. "Verified on" is the last date we checked that brand's own website or official newsroom. Brands change these programs often, so a date tells you how fresh each row is.

Month-by-month planner: when to join

The strictest deadline on this page is Old Navy's: your birthday must be in your Encore profile at least 7 business days before your birthday month starts. Join every program by that date and you also meet IHOP's (before the 1st), Ulta's (before your birthday month), Starbucks' (7 days before your birthday) and Nike's (before your birthday). Then make your one Starbucks purchase before your birthday.

Dates count Monday to Friday and do not allow for public holidays, so joining a few days earlier is safer. Panera is the exception: its best birthday meal depends on reaching $300 of Panera spending in a calendar year, which no sign-up date can shortcut.

Free birthday food and drinks

Starbucks

Starbucks' terms, effective March 10, 2026, say you must join Starbucks Rewards at least 7 days before your birthday, have your birthday in your account, and make at least one Star-earning purchase before your birthday each year. The reward is one handcrafted drink, one food item or one ready-to-drink bottled drink. It loads on your birthday and excludes multi-serve items, alcohol, merchandise and packaged coffee. Green members must use it that day, Gold members have 7 days and Reserve members 30 days (Starbucks Rewards terms).

IHOP

IHOP's rewards FAQ says members get 5 PanCoins on the first day of their birthday month, enough for a full stack of buttermilk pancakes in the IHOP app. That means the deadline is simple: you must be a member before your birthday month begins. If you join mid-month, the deposit date has already passed, so plan for next year.

Chili's and Panera

Chili's gives My Chili's Rewards members a free dessert on their birthday, and free chips and salsa on every visit. Its terms say benefits need a spend of at least $5 on food or drink, not counting tax, tips or donations (My Chili's Rewards terms).

Panera's free You Pick Two birthday meal is for MyPanera+ members, who reach that level by spending $300 at Panera in a calendar year. Panera says birthdates cannot be changed after you register, so enter yours carefully.

Krispy Kreme and Dunkin'

Krispy Kreme Rewards puts a birthday gift in your account, valid for 30 days. Dunkin' gives 3X points the day before, the day of and the day after your birthday, not a free drink. Many freebie lists still mention a free Dunkin' drink from its older DD Perks program.

Red Robin ended its free birthday burger

Red Robin's terms say the Birthday Burger Offer became part of a "Surprise and Delight" offer from June 1, 2026, with one final birthday burger for eligible members whose birthday month began on or before July 1, 2026. The Kids' Birthday Offer continues (Red Robin Royalty terms, checked October 15, 2026).

Birthday beauty gifts

Sephora

Sephora's January 1, 2026 announcement lists the 2026 Beauty Insider birthday gifts: sets from Dr. Dennis Gross, Glossier, Tower 28 Beauty and Dae for all tiers in the first half of the year, with K18, Gisou and innisfree later in the year. The gift is free at Sephora stores and Sephora at Kohl's, needs a $25 minimum on Sephora.com, and has no minimum on Kohls.com. In store, you can take 250 Beauty Insider points instead (Sephora 2026 birthday gifts, checked October 26, 2026).

Ulta Beauty

Ulta's birthday page says your birth date must be in your profile and you must be opted in to marketing emails before your birthday month. Online, sign in during your birthday month, with at least one non-Marketplace product in your bag and a subtotal above $0. Platinum and Diamond members also get $10 off, and every member gets 2X points on select purchases in their birthday month. Gifts are limited and available while they last (Ulta birthday gift, checked October 26, 2026).

Bath & Body Works

The birthday reward appears in your app Wallet or online account on your birthday and lasts 30 days. It covers one item whose original price is $9.95 or less, judged by the original price even if the item is on sale, and it can be combined with other rewards. Online, you add the free item and other merchandise to your cart (Bath & Body Works reward help, checked October 26, 2026).

Birthday discounts at clothing stores

Clothing stores give discounts and gifts rather than free items. Nike's 10% birthday discount needs a $100 minimum order, applies to the first $500 and combines only with free shipping codes, and it excludes Nike By You, gift cards, select launch and SNKRS products and Apple products (Nike birthday terms, checked October 26, 2026). It is only a saving if you were going to spend $100 at Nike anyway.

Old Navy's Encore gives Core members one birthday gift, Premier members (over $350 a year) one more for a family member, and All-Access cardmembers gifts for up to three family members. Kohl's and Macy's keep their gift details private until your birthday, and Macy's says the surprise may need a store visit or a purchase. adidas sends a birthday gift from adiClub Level 2. Birthday rewards for kids and pets

• Red Robin: the Kids' Birthday Offer continues under Red Robin Royalty.
• Old Navy Encore: Premier and All-Access members get extra gifts for family members.
• PetSmart: your pet gets 1,000 bonus points, worth $2, plus 2X points on treats once, sent by the first day of its birthday month. You activate the points in your account, up to two pets get the bonus points and up to 12 pets get the double treat points. Which freebies are worth the most

A free item you would have bought anyway is worth its price. A discount that needs a minimum order is only worth it if you planned to spend that much. By that test, the best value on this page goes to Sephora's in-store gift (no purchase), Bath & Body Works (an item with an original price up to $9.95; online it needs another item in the cart), Starbucks (one drink or food item after a single earlier purchase) and IHOP (a full stack of pancakes). Nike's 10% is worth up to $50, but only on an order of $100 or more.

Avoiding spam: use one separate email address for all your rewards programs, and check it during your birthday month. Most programs keep your account if you unsubscribe from marketing afterwards, but Ulta needs marketing emails turned on before your birthday month, so opt back in before then.
