Ulta Beauty Rewards is free, and your points can pay for a good part of your beauty routine. The catch is that a point's value more than doubles depending on how many you redeem at once.

The Ulta points redemption chart

These are the redemption levels at the time of writing:

  • 100 points = $3 off (3 cents per point)
  • 250 points = $8 off (3.2 cents per point)
  • 500 points = $17.50 off (3.5 cents per point)
  • 750 points = $30 off (4 cents per point)
  • 1,000 points = $50 off (5 cents per point)
  • 2,000 points = $125 off (6.25 cents per point)

Redeeming 2,000 points at once is worth more than twice as much per point as redeeming in batches of 100.

How many points you earn

Your tier depends on your spending in a calendar year:

  • Member: 1 point per $1.
  • Platinum (spend $500 or more a year): 1.25 points per $1.
  • Diamond (spend $1,200 or more a year): 1.5 points per $1.

The Ulta credit cards add bonus points on Ulta purchases. Frequent bonus-point events, such as 2x or 3x points on certain brands, can speed things up even more.

When to cash in

Save up when you can

If your points will not expire soon, keep saving until you reach 1,000 or 2,000 points. That is where the value jumps.

Redeem early only to avoid losing points

At the Member tier, points expire if you do not use them, about a year after you earn them (Ulta lists the exact dates in your account). Platinum and Diamond points do not expire while you keep your status. If points are about to expire, redeem whatever level you can.

Pair points with a coupon

Points are applied as a dollar amount, and they can often be used on the same order as an Ulta coupon. A points redemption plus a "$X off $Y" coupon on a planned haul gets you the most value. Check our Ulta Beauty coupons and deals before you check out.

Quick ways to earn more

  1. Shop bonus-point events for products you already use.
  2. Book salon services through Ulta, which earn points too.
  3. Link your Ulta account where Ulta offers it at partner retailers, so eligible beauty purchases earn points.
  4. Claim your birthday gift. It is free and does not use points.

Ulta Rewards FAQ

How much is 1,000 Ulta points worth?

$50 off, or 5 cents per point. Waiting until 2,000 points gets you $125, or 6.25 cents per point.

Do Ulta points expire?

At the Member tier, yes, roughly a year after you earn them. Platinum and Diamond members' points do not expire while they keep their status.

Can I use Ulta points and a coupon together?

Often yes. Points are applied as a dollar discount, so they can usually be combined with a store coupon. Check the coupon's terms for exclusions.
